Kates video toolkit rotate5/15/2023 But a T-handle is so much faster than a socket wrench, and one with a spinner in the middle is faster still. You’ll note in the video below that sometimes people will refer to this style of wrench as a “speed wrench.” A traditional speed wrench is technically that old-style wavy lug-nut wrench. Sure, I could dip or wrap all my tool handles, but am I ever going to do that? Nope, I am not. It’s a less-cold tool than everything else. Also, the spinning part is aluminum, and mounted with bearings, therefore fairly effectively thermally separated from the steel of the wrench. This wrench has a slightly-squishy rubberized handle, which makes it comfortable to use, and definitely not cold. I’m constantly working on changing some of those variables. Working in a chilly garage on a cold motorcycle with cold tools is never a picnic. Picking up a new tool every time I need a new size socket would mean I’m constantly touching cold tools. Most of the work I do to my motorcycles, I do when it’s inhospitable outside, because what else are you going to do during snow storms? …Don’t answer that. Next, because I live pretty deep in the northern hemisphere, it gets cold in my garage. The “Spinner T-Handle II” has a 2-stage head, which means you can pop the socket onto the end and let it wobble, or push it on another “click” and it’s solid. But I can already see that this single T-handle is going to displace a lot of wrenches in my rotation.įirst: I love a wobble socket, but there are times you don’t want your sockets wobbling, IYKWIM. Am I going to get rid of all the other T-handle wrenches in my toolbox? Probably not, because I am a tool junkie.
